Amazon Prime Day 2018 will be the fourth of its kind. While Amazon hasn't officially confirmed it yet, we're expecting the next Amazon Prime Day to happen in July. Here, we share everything we know so far, and offer advice about how to make the most of the rapidly growing deals event.

When is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day 2017 was on 11 July, and the years before it were within a day or two of that, so it's safe to assume that the Amazon Prime Day 2018 date will be somewhere around then.

Amazon seems to prefer a Tuesday or Wednesday, so we'd guess 10 or 11 July 2018 is a reasonably safe bet.

We'll update this article as soon as we hear more from Amazon and the rumour mill, but in the meantime we round up all of the best deals you can get on Amazon right now in our best Amazon deals article.

What is Amazon Prime Day?

Prime Day 2018 will be the fourth annual Prime Day Amazon has hosted. The first was in the summer of 2015 when Amazon was celebrating its 20th birthday, but it was such a success that it has now become a yearly deals event.

Amazon Prime Day 2018 is expected to be bigger and better than ever, with deals as huge and as plentiful as they are on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. They're only for Amazon Prime customers, though, so you'll need to sign up to Amazon Prime or its 30-day free trial nearer the time to take advantage of the offers.

As Amazon Prime Day grows, the company's rivals have been joining in with the fun.  Last year, many launched sales events that coincided with Amazon's, as outlined below. Expect to see similar this year from each of these Amazon competitors.

How to get Amazon Prime

As mentioned, the catch to Prime Day is that you'll need to be an Amazon Prime customer in order to take advantage of the deals.

Amazon offers a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime, and even free trial Prime members can get Amazon Prime Day deals. You can sign up to the Amazon Prime free trial here.

You can find out more about Amazon Prime and the huge number of features it offers for that £79 per year fee in our complete guide to Amazon Prime.

Be sure to cancel your subscription before your free trial ends to avoid being charged, unless of course you find yourself enjoying it! Find out more about how to cancel your subscription properly here.

If you've previously had a free trial of Amazon Prime, you might be surprised to hear that you can do so again if it has been more than a year since your last trial.

Best Amazon Prime Day deals of last year

To give you a better idea of what to expect, we've kept a list of some of the standout deals from last year below. Amazon says that 2017's Prime Day broke all of its previous records, helping the company sell more products in a single day than ever before.

There were also plenty of super speedy Lightning deals available, and we expect to see the same again this year. They're available for an hour or two before selling out, so you'll have to be quick!

But even the Daily Deals can sell out, so you'll need to get a move on if you want to make sure you get the best deals. A brilliant Surface Pro 4 deal sold out around lunch time, for example, and a PS4 deal just hours later.

Remember that all of the deals mentioned below will now be over, as this article was written on Prime Day 2017 itself. However, you can find all of the best deals available right now in our Best Tech Deals 2018.
