5. Star Ruler

The demo of Star Ruler is missing some ship components, limits ship size, and has no multiplayer support, but provides more than enough to determine if you'd enjoy the full game. At £16.55, it's bargain priced, and it is being constantly and actively updated with new features and improvements.
