Mario Kart 8

Mario Kart 8 hits the shops tomorrow and it is the best reason to finally buy Nintendo's Wii U console.

Why Mario Kart 8 didn't come with the Wii U as a launch title is beyond me and how the story would be different if it had. Nevertheless, it's finally here and if you haven't got a Wii U yet, the racer is your best reason and/or excuse yet.

I can vouch for this as, after a delay, I've been playing my review sample and the game is great. Read a full review over on PC Advisor. I'm not the only one who thinks it's a brilliant game either, most are heralding it as the best since the original or even the best ever made.

It involves new tracks, remakes of beloved old ones, new weapons and new characters – oh and anti-gravity racing.

I bought my Wii U at full price when it launched so it was £300 including a game. However, now, you can get the console for around the £200 mark which is simply nothing when you consider what you get (these devices aren’t just for playing games any more).

Mario Kart 8 Wii U premium packIf you go for the Premium Pack with Mario Kart 8, you'll only be spending £239 – nearly £150 cheaper than the Xbox One. If that's too expensive, you can pick up a used basic Wii U for around £150. That's amazing for a console which is only a year and a half old.

Add on top of that, the fact that Nintendo is giving away a free game download with the title and it's a no brainer.

If you still disagree, Mario Kart 8 isn't the only good reason to invest in a Wii U. There are some other top games which are already available including the HD remake of Zelda: Wind Waker and Super Mario 3D World. Upcoming titles include new Zelda and Super Smash Bros titles.
