BlackBerry Curve BBM

BlackBerry is in talks with smartphone makers to get BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) pre-loaded on devices.

You may have recently heard about BlackBerry's decision to release BBM into the wild, on Android and iPhone. Well now it seems it wants the instant messaging app to come pre-installed on handsets.

"There is interest from other handset makers," BlackBerry Chief Operating Officer Kristian Tear told CNET.

BBM will give Android and iPhone users another way to connect to BlackBerry owners, as well as each other. Although BBM has a user base of around 60 million people worldwide, it has strong competition from the likes of WhatsApp.

A launch date for the app on Android and iOS of 27 June which was tweeted by T-Mobile has been confirmed as incorrect. We're still waiting for an official release date from BlackBerry to be announced.
