Wuaki streaming service takes on Netflix and LoveFilm
Wuaki.tv has come to the UK in an attempt to take on the heavyweight streaming services of Netflix and Amazon's LoveFilm.
How does is intent do to this I hear you cry. Well it claims to be the first streaming service in the UK to combine subscription and rental for its TV shows and films. See also: How to stream music and video to your iPad.
Users can subscribe to Wuaki Plus for £2.99 per month (for life) for a limited time and Play.com users can get 50 percent off their first two film purchases. Regular price for those not signing up during the offer period will be £5.99, matching Netflix.
The cheaper price will be available until 13 September or when the service reaches 75,000 subscribers.
How can you get Wuaki.tv? Well at the moment it's available on PC and Mac but the firm said consoles, Smart TVs and tablets will gain support over the summer.
The Wuaki catalogue includes content from "major Hollywood Studios, including Warner Bros., Disney, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment, and major UK and international distributors, including the BBC".
Rakuten, the firm behind the service, said that users will be able to watch 'new releases' before its rivals.
