Fossil Q Founder smartwatch release date and price
Prices start at £259 which will get you the model with a brown leather strap. If you want a stainless steel strap instead you'll need to shell out £279. These prices are in-line with most Android Wear rivals.
US prices are set at $275 and $295 respectively.
Fossil Q Founder smartwatch specs and features
It seems the watchmakers trying an Android Wear are passing on the usual option of a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Like Tag Heuer, Fossil has opted to install an Intel chip to power the Q Founder. There's 4GB of storage which is standard and a Google Play listing states 1GB of RAM.
The screen is essentially identical to the new Moto 360 so it's 1.5in with a resolution of 360x326 resulting in a pixel density of 240ppi. The unequal resolution is due to the fact that the Q Founder has the same 'flat tyre' at the bottom of the display.
Inside the watch is Bluetooth 4.1 LE, a three-axis accelerometer and a three-axis gyroscope. There's no hardware such as GPS or a heart rate monitor but the Q Founder does support basic fitness tracking. A 400mAh battery will supposedly provide an estimated 24-hour battery life.
With Android Wear on-board, Fossil lists compatibility as Android Devices 4.4+ and iOS 8.2+ / iPhone 5+.
On the design front, the Q Founder is a 46mm watch and is 13mm thick. It's made from stainless steel and weighs a fairly hefty 71.9g and the straps are 22mm so can be easily swapped. Like other Android Wear watches, there's a splash-proof IP67 rating.
