Sony has expanded its range of camcorders with the Handycam DCR-SX21E which features a 57x optical zoom to ensure you can capture the action no matter how far away it is.

The compact camcorder, whichweighs just 166g, also features an extended zoom that increases the magnification to 67x. Users will also benefit from SteadyShot imagae stabilisation technology to reduce the effect of camera shake on the footage while a Face Detection function makes it easy to focus on a subject when shooting.

The 2.7in flip-out LCD display lets users compose their shots and review video once it has been captured while a joystick located next to the display lets users scroll through menus and settings. The Handycam DCR-SX21E also benefits from an Intelligent AUTO mode analyses the shooting conditions and then adjusts the focus, exposure, colour and other settings accordingly to ensure the best possible footage is captured, and a built-in LED video light to illuminate indoor scenes or night-time shots.

The Camcorder supports SD cards or Memory Sticks.

The Sony Handycam DCR-SX21E camcorder will be available form September. Pricing has yet to be revealed.
