Sanyo is adding to its lineup of flash memory camcorders with the launch today of the £199 Xacti CG9.
A 9.1Mp camcorder with CMOS image sensor, the Sanyo Xacti CG9 captures high-definition Mpeg4/H.264 video that can be played back at 60fps (frames per second).
The digital camcorder features an internal 40MB memory and is capable of capturing still images up to 9.1Mp resolution. Photos and video footage are stored on either SD and SDHC cards removable memory cards. Flash memory cards of up to 32GB are supported.
Sanyo says up to an hour of video can be stored per gigabyte of available memory.
Like other Sanyo camcorders, the Xacti CG9 has a Face Chaser feature that highlights and identifies up to 12 faces in the same image. It then prioritises getting a good shot of people's faces, rather than background or surrounding detail.
The camcorder has a 5x optical and 12x digital zoom and a sequential photo setting lets you take up to 10 photos in rapid succession with a shutter speed of 5fps.
The 2.5in LCD display flips out from the camera and rotates to ensure otherwise difficult shots can be captured.
The Xacti GC9 measures 2.9x4x1.5in, which will fit in a pocket and, according to Sanyo, features an ergonomic shape with larger, easier to use function buttons and a comfortable, rounded grip.
The Sanyo Xacto CG9 digital camcorder will be available in a choice of silver, black or pink. It is expected to be priced at £199 and will be available in the UK from mid-April.
