Ricoh has expanded its range of digital compact cameras with the 9Mp CX1. The £299 camera has a 3in LCD screen for previewing your digital snaps and features Ricoh's new image processing engine Smooth Imagine Engine IV.
The Ricoh CX1 also offers a number of new functions that make snapping the perfect image easy. The Dynamic Range Double Shot Mode takes two still images at different exposures, and then automatically creates a new image that combines the properly exposed portions of each photo. An enhanced high-speed continuous shooting mode will take four frames per second (fps) and the Multi-Pattern Auto White Balance feature will adjust the white balance for each of the different light sources picked up by the camera when an image is taken.
The 101x58x30mm camera packs in a 7x optical and 4x digital zoom and can capture video clips at 30fps. Ricoh describes it as "a tool you will want to use every day". The 88MB internal memory can be expanded with a Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) memory card up to 32GB. A built-in flash and integrated re-chargeable battery also features.
The Ricoh CX1 will be available direct from the camera maker's website from 13 March in a choice of black, silver or pink.
