Olympus has confirmed the launch of a 10.1Mp digital SLR camera, the E-520. The £479 digital SLR model will go onsale in the UK in June.
The 10Mp camera has a 2.7in LCD viewfinder for composing shots and has a Live View mode – still far from the norm on dSLR cameras. A burst mode offers 3.5-frames-per-second shooting in RAW mode.
A Four Thirds full-frame camera, the Olympus E-520 has a built-in face detection feature, image stabilisation and shadow adjustment. This latter feature compensates for darker areas of an image and brings out the detail in them.
The Olympus E-520 will offer full manual control with an ISO range of 100 to 1600 and a histogram displaying image information on the camera’s LCD. Olympus also includes 32 different scene presets.
The Olympus E-520 goes onsale next month in the UK for around £479 for the body only.
Olympus has also announced a new addition to its line-up of lenses compatible with its Four Thirds cameras. The Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm f/4-5.6 is likely to go onsale in the UK from September. Pricing for the Olympus Zuiko Digital ED 9-18mm f/4-5.6 lens has yet to be announced.
