GE Cameras has unveiled its 2009 line-up of compact cameras. The first models should hit UK stores sometime next month.

The entrylevel model, the GE A950, will have a 2.5in screen and a 5x zoom while its sibling, the A1150, will have 2Mp more at 11Mp.

A step up from this will be the A1250W which, in addition to boasting 12Mp, will have a slightly larger 3in screen. The A1250 will have a 28mm wide-angle lens and come with an HDMI port so it can be directly connected to an HD-ready TV for instant playback.

Finally, the GE E1255W, another 12Mp compact camera, will also be a 28mm wide-angle lens model. However, it will not have an HDMI output.

Other models in the range include a touchscreen version of the A1250 - the E1250TW, which is set to launch in the UK in May for around £149 - and a waterproof compact camera. The 10Mp G3WP will have a 4x zoom, 3in LCD screen and launch in July.

In common with many other manufacturers, General Imaging includes user-friendly features such as blink, smile and face detection, in-camera red-eye removal and an autofocus lens that adjusts to the light levels around it.

GE Cameras is the photography branch of General Electric and was showcasing its new models at the PMA (Photo Marketing Association) show in Las Vegas.
