Viewsonic has launched a brand-new widescreen LCD monitor range, the VP50 series. The three-strong line-up ranges from 19in to 26in screens. The largest model is able to display 1,080p high-definition images.

The largest model in the Viewsonic VP50 range VP50 range is the 26in widescreen VP2650wb. This boasts a 1,920x,1200 native resolution and a 3,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio providing the ability to display 1,080p high-definition content

ViewSonic's 19in widescreen VP950b combines a 1,280x1,024 native resolution, 280 nits of brightness and a 2,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. This is joined by the 22in widescreen Viewsonic VP2250wb, which sports a 1,680x1,050 native resolution and 3,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

According to Viewsonic, the majority of CRT and LCD monitors on the market today only display 75 percent colour gamut of the National Television System Committee (NTSC) guidelines but the new VP50 series features up to a 110 percent colour gamut alongside OptiColor technology, which ViewSonic claims makes for better accuracy and more detailed images .

Users will also benefit from PerfectSuite Plus software, which offers settings adjustments, color calibration, asset management and theft deterrence functions. All three displays support HDCP (high-definition content protection) are Windows Vista Certified. Each display can be adjusted in height up to to 4.7in, rotated through 120-degree swivel, will pivot and tilt.

Viewsonic has yet to confirm prices for any of the VP50 models. They will be sold through the usual outlets such as Dabs and Misco.
