Mophie Plus iPhone 5 battery case boasts 2,100mAh charge
You wait months for Mophie to release one of its great battery cases for the iPhone 5, and then you get three along in rapid-fire procession.
The Mophie Juice Pack Plus is the highest-capacity battery case for iPhone 5. At 2,100mAh it bebats the Air (1,700mAh) and Helium (1,500mAh).
What do these mAh numbers mean in reality? When I tested the Helium I gauged its power boost at around 70 percent – meaning I got back to 70 percent of full charge when flicking the Helium’s power switch on a drained iPhone.
For the Air the recharge was close to full, at around 95 percent.
When I’ve tested the Juice Pack Plus I’ll let you know whether it achieved Mophie’s claimed 120% charge – a full recharge and then another fifth once the first recharge was done with.
Mophie claims the Juice Pack Air will give you: up to additional 10 hours talk time on 3G, an extra 10 hours Internet use on 3G or 4G LTE (or 12 hours using wi-fi), and 50 hours audio or up to 12 hours video playback.
The Mophie Juice Pack Plus is very slightly larger (6.68cm wide, 14.2 long and 1.78cm deep) than the Air battery pack (6.6cm wide, 14.1cm long and 1.6cm deep), but you can hardly notice the difference. Both weigh in at 76g.
Other than the slight size difference the Plus looks pretty similar to the Air with covered button overlays to the Sleep/Wake, Ring/Silent and Volume buttons.
In old-time measurements the Plus comes in at 2.63in x 5.60in x 0.70in, and 2.68oz.
The Mophie Juice Pack Plus battery pack for iPhone 5 is available in black, white and red. It costs £109.95.
