HTC has announced its Desire 500, its mid-range Android smartphone, will come to the UK. Updated on 08/08/13.
Keeping the HTC's Desire range ticking along is the new HTC Desire 500 offering those who can't afford the HTC One or HTC One mini another option. The Desire 500 will launch in the UK but availability details, release date and stockists are still to be confirmed – it will launch during August in selected markets.
Price is also to be announced but HTC said the Desire 500 is 'designed for those who demand a superior mobile experience at an affordable price'. Mobile Fun has announced the Desire 500 will sell for £229 inc VAT on a SIM-free basis.

It is perfect for people who are always-on-the-go, it enables powerful multitasking and live-streaming of important and interesting information, and it boasts an excellent camera and that bring your important moments to life."
The Desire 500 sports a 1.2GHz quad-core processor (a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200), 1GB of RAM and a 4.3in screen putting it at the top end of the mid-range. HTC said the smartphone will come with BlinkFeed and Video Highlights allowing users to put images into a 30-second clip reel. See also: HTC One Glamour Red review.
Other specifications include an 8Mp rear facing camera, 1.6Mp front facing camera and a microSD card slot which will accept up to 64GB cards.
A dual-SIM with NFC model of the HTC Desire 500 will be available in select markets. It will come in Lacquer Black and Glacier Blue colours.
