MSI is following up its popular Wind U100 mini notebook with the promised £269 Linux version, priced at £60 less than the original model.
The new MSI Wind U90 features a slightly smaller screen, at 8.9in instead of 10.2in, although the keyboard and chassis are the same size as before. An extra wide screen bezel fills in the space formerly used by the larger LED-back-lit display.
Inside is the same 80GB hard drive as the first U100, but unlike the Windows version there is no Bluetooth module onboard. Its operating system is SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10, using the KDE interface.
Meanwhile the Wind U100 is now available with a 120GB hard drive, and optionally in a pink colour finish, albeit with the smaller 80GB storage. The MSI Wind U100 with larger drive will sell for around £329, while the 80GB Pink Edition will be £319.
