Asus has released details of its new Eee PC 900 laptops. Larger than their predecessors, the two Asus Eee PC 900 models feature an 8.9in screen, 1GB of RAM and are available with either Windows XP or Linux operating systems.

The Windows XP version comes with a 12GB solid state hard drive while the Linux PC features a 20GB hard drive. Both laptops also have a built-in 1.3Mp webcam, USB ports and integrated card readers and are priced at £329. The previous Asus Eee PC, the 701, had a 7in display and a 0.3Mp webcam.

A new 4GB Windows XP version is also available. The 7in (800x480 pixel) Asus Eee PC 4G Win laptop shares the same specification as the 4GB Eee PC 701 but is priced at £249.

Asus claims the Eee PCs, which weigh less than 1kg, offer 3.5 hours of battery life. Both the Windows XP and Linux versions of the Asus Eee PC 900 will be available from 1 May from PC World.
