The only downside is that images, videos and audio files that are sent to you are automatically saved to your Android device. Here's how to stop Whatsapp saving images, photos and videos to your Android smartphone. See all How-To tutorials. See all Android tutorials.
Open the app and go to the main chats screen. From here click on the three vertical dots and then open settings.
Now that you're in the settings menu, you need to open Chat Settings and then select the Media auto-download option.
From here is you will be presented with three further options to let you decide if you want to download content when you're just using mobile data, connected to a Wi-Fi network or when Roaming. You now need to open and deselect the Image, Audio and Video check boxes from each Mobile Data, Wi-Fi and Roaming options.
That's it. You will be asked whether you want to save a Whatsapp photo, audio or video file to your Android device.
