What to expect from EA's Gamescom 2015 conference

EA will talk about several upcoming games at this year's Gamescom, with likely candidates expected to be FIFA 16, Star Wars Battlefront, Mass Effect Andromeda, Mirror's Edge Catalyst and Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2. Read on for more details on each title.

What to expect from EA's Gamescom 2015 conference: Star Wars Battlefront

With EA now owning the rights to develop Star Wars games, its subsidiary DICE is in control and is using the Frostbite 3 engine. The studio said the game will be "DICE's interpretation of what Battlefront should be".

At Gamescom 2015 expect to hear more details about Star Wars Battlefronts Fighter Squadron mode, which was teased ahead of the event.

Star Wars Battlefront goes on sale in November 2015.

What to expect from EA's Gamescom 2015 conference: FIFA 16

The big news is that this year's update of FIFA will include... FEMALE PLAYERS. Not such a radical move, you would think, but it caused great consternation when it was revealed that FIFA 16 will include some international teams from the women's game. About time too. What else will FIFA 16 bring? We'll have to wait and see tomorrow morning.

FIFA 16 goes on sale 25 September 2015.

What to expect from EA's Gamescom 2015 conference: Mass Effect Andromeda

Mass Effect Andromeda will feature "new places, new characters and new people to fall in love with". It's still a way off yet, though, expected sometime in 2016.

What to expect from EA's Gamescom 2015 conference: Mirror's Edge Catalyst

Mirror's Edge Catalyst is not merely Mirror's Edge 2 - this is something entirely new, reimagined in every aspect, according to the dev.

At E3 we were told: "Mirror’s Edge Catalyst immerses players in the origin story of Faith, and her rise from a careless young woman to a heroine who opens the eyes of an entire city. Featuring fluid movement and combat in a massive city where you can run free and explore from the highest, most pristine skyscrapers, to the dark and gritty tunnels that lie beneath, Mirror’s Edge Catalyst adds a new level of immersion to action adventure games by putting you in the first person perspective. You are not just watching Faith’s fight for freedom, you will experience it through her eyes."

Mirror's Edge Catalyst goes on sale on 25 February 2016.

What to expect from EA's Gamescom 2015 conference: Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2

Forget taking on the zombies, in Garden Warfare 2 the zombies have already conquered and it's the plants' turn to attack. There are more than 100 playable characters, 12 new battlegrounds, solo- and split-screen play modes, 24-player online multiplayer and up to four-player online co-op modes.

Garden Warfare 2 is the sequel to 2014's Garden Warfare, and will be available in Spring 2016.
