Windows Security requests password to send Mail

Just suddenly started getting this problem. When sending an e-mail using WINDOWS MAIL, a pop up appears from Windows Security saying ... "Please verify that both the username and password are correct for your mail server." Even when I enter the correct details, it tries to connect to the server but still fails and the pop up just comes back.

I have several different "accounts" set up and the problem is with all of them. I've double checked all settings under TOOLS - ACCOUNTS... for each account and they are all OK. I have also tried using CONTROL PANEL to get to MAIL but that doesn't show any of the accounts. It lets me add the accounts but it still doesn't work.

The accounts under TOOLS - ACCOUNTS... appear under C:\Users\xxx\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local Folders with "eoaccount" extensions. However a search for other "eoaccount" files doesn't find the new accounts created through CONTROL PANEL, even when they have different details or when all accounts are deleted from within TOOLS - ACCOUNTS...

I'm assuming that both CONTROL PANEL and TOOLS - ACCOUNTS... should reference the same data anyway, so something is wrong there.

Since I last sent an e-mail, I have downloaded a couple of programs for Web Design and suppose that something in them may have caused the problem. Otherwise I don't think I've changed anything.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

I think I've managed to resolve the problem by just deleting all the accounts and re-entering them. They still don't show up when I go in to MAIL under CONTROL PANEL but at least e-mails are now being sent OK.

Thanks to anyone that looked.
