Hi Guys Vista keeps telling me windows defender is out of date. Yet when I try to update it all I get is searching for definitions? and nothing further Kopite

Yes I did have problems with Windows Defender, but I had an error code which helped me solve the problem.
You don't mention an error code but You may find this worth a read.

You might be better off without defender and use third party alternatives instead which are said to be more thorough in protecting your system

you cannot delete defender in vista but you can turn it off in services
