windows back up programme not working

my back up fails, and it gives me `0x8078014B and refers to Back Up Storage Location. has anyone had the same problem and sorted it

Is it an Internal or an External Hard Drive that you are trying to Back-up to?

WEE EDDIE Yes. It is a My Passport external unit

Just a thought: Before starting a new backup.

Open a Folder, several Folders if you wish, and put all the Files into it/them, you can take them out later if you wish, so that your BBackup Drive contains only Free Space and Folders.

Identify that you have sufficient space for the backup.

Start the backup process afresh.

If you have the same problem again, I'm lost.

If the above method worked, all you now have to do is to delete all the files that are in your new Folders that have near duplicates on the outside.

MechKB 2: As far as I know, there are no serious problems with MS's W7 Backup Software. Admittedly I've not yet had to restore a backup but it happily runs every Sunday evening after automated scans by Malwarebytes and Kaspersky.

So I have to hope that I never need to use it in anger.
