Windows back up error and Java script

  David Beverley 13:35 31 May 2014

Two problems which I suspect are interconnected. We are running Windows 7 64 bit I have just tried to back up her laptop and received the error message 0x81000037. Putting this into Windows knowledge base and Google it seems that it may be an issue associated with Java.

Secondly my wife’s laptop frequently, nearly daily, gets a message to update Java, when she clicks on yes to update she is told that she already has the most up to date version

I have scanned her computer for both malware and viruses and nothing shows up. Any ideas on how to resolve the problems in a none geeky way? Can I remove Java from her laptop and then reinstall it?

Take a read here What is Java and Do I need It

I have Windows 7 and don't have Java installed on my PC but some software does need it. Personally I would uninstall it and then IF a program asks for it then install it.
