Despite the requirement being turned off (I think!) Win 10 insists on a password when I switch on, which is a damned nuisance.

Can I get rid of this?

Have you tried running plnetwiz?

  tullie 10:49 06 Aug 2015

Sorry its netplwiz

Can't seem to find it in Windows 10. Checked it out in Winn 7 OK, but no joy in 10

I have the same problem, I have used netplwiz and it says password off in user accounts, But still asked for one on boot up so I changed it to using a four number pin. In netplwiz you have to check/uncheck the little box .

Thanks, I know how it is set up, as I used it in Windows 7 (thanks tullie). It's just that I can't find it in Windows 10!

I have just typed netplwiz into the run box on Windows 10,and it found it.

That was mu problem - couldn't find the Windows Run box in 10!

However, I've down it now, found an OSK that has a Windows key and used Windows + R.

After all that, it didn't work and I'm still being asked for a password!

Thanks for the help anyway.

Just running in a new Win 10 device (Acer Aspire) and that , too, insists on a password every time

"Who will rid me of this troublesome (password)?

Just to be sure you did it right. You unticked the box then it asks for your password twice then pressed apply. Ok and it still does not work.

If you tried all that and it still does not work just ignore my comments.

maybe try it as administrator by right clicking the start menu.Command prompt admin.

CMD opens and just copy and paste netplwiz into it and press enter on the keyboard.

That takes you to where you were before so just tick the box. Add the passwords .Apply.ok

Not saying it will work but worth a try.
