Win 7 Not Recognising Camcorder

My Panasonic camcorder was recognised properly and was fully useable on Vista, whether via USB or firewire. My new Dell PC, running Windows 7, does not recognise the camcorder, though. Whether I connect it via USB or firewire, the reult is the same: it's only seen as a generic USB device, and so is unusable.

Panasonic say - I guess quite rightly - that as it worked fine under Vista, the problem has to be with Windows 7. I've got the same problem with a Sony voice recorder and an external modem.

Has anyone experienced anything like this and, more to the point, has anyone a solution?

Thanks

Yep, every time a new OS is relesed, some things work, some don't

Did you get an installation disc with the camera to install software\drivers to a PC. If so try installing in compatibility mode.

Thanks for the replies. The solution was to install the latest BIOS from Dell - labelled A12. After that, all worked fine.

Wonderful.
