If I install 64 bit versio of Win 7 will my existing applications that work with XP still work?
I tried 64 bit Linux once and I had to get a 64 bit version of Firefox and not all plug-ins were available.

are you specifically concerned about?

Most 32 bit programs work on the 64 bit system, they are placed in program files x 86 folder.

Unlike linux (which has had a longer 64 bit history) I don't think that many general windows programmes have been specially compiled for 64 bit computers.

Like you I am interested to find out how windows 64 bit systems get round 32 bit plug-in problems. From memory I think the 64 bit windows xp installed both a 64 bit and 32 bit version of internet explorer. Maybe they have something like nspluginwrapper

you should have no problem with as long as you update them.
ITunes, Adobe, Java, RealPlayer not sure on the others though. With the ones your not sure about you need to go to each of the Mfrs website and check compatibilty.
