When booting up our laptop the vista sidebar takes an absolute age to appear even with only the clock on,i can be surfing the net wirelessly before the sidebar appears.
Any idea how to make the sidebar appear faster?
Maybe it needs another 1gb of ram?laptop spec below. Thanks

RAM may help.

The other thing to look at is how many programs you have booting at start. It's surprising how few you really need with access to the remainder when you want them.

As Anskyber says, more ram will certainly help.

However, have you added any of your own gadgets to the sidebar ?
Just one that is not from a good source can cause problems loading.

Removing one at a time and a reboot will diagnose this for you.You can always reinstall the gadget later.

Check MSCONFIG for what startup entries can be removed.
