Vista fails to start first time

Problem on start up as rule computer won't boot any further than the scan bar reset and it's ok
my computer has nothing installed that won't work with vista.
On looking at the event log i get 0X80040dO3 it tells me to remove this.
Lost on this one.
Computer running Vista Basic
2GB Ram
Sempron 3000
Graphics Nvidia Geforce 6200 Vista driver installed.#
There are no bios updates for the Winfast mobo
760GXK8MC at this time bios dated late 2005.

I thought Vista failing to start was a feature, something to do with enhanced security; if the OS won't start, you can't get malware!

Still on my quest to make it work. It did start first time today (amazing!) but I then loaded Office, but on the restarts, as usual, Vista crashed.

Try what I do: get it to start in safe mode (this always works for me). Once it's started, try rebooting again as normal.

pk46 how did you resolve this please?.........I have this fault regularly.........usually having just installed anything (particularly windows updates)
