Vista and 2core cpu's

  Jockman 11:07 12 Jul 2007

I have Vista Ultimate, 4Gb ram, and an Intel 6400 core2 cpu. In the device manager, it shows that I have 2 processors, but, when using any diagnostic/info prog, it shows only one, as does Adobe progs that search for 2 cpu's. I have always thought that there was no benifit to speed with this setup. Is there something wrong with, A.Vista
c. The other progs.
Thanks in advance.

Many thanks for the link. What a great little prog, showed that I was missing a lot of crucial updates.
Anyway, what it showed as regard to the cpu was..
2.33 gigahertz Intel Core 2 Duo
64 kilobyte primary memory cache
2048 kilobyte secondary memory cache

What i was trying to find out was, why programs etc only show it as being one and not two, ie, Adobe progs looking for 2 cpu's.
If I use cpuz, it says, core1=**** and core two is blocked out.

Not completely sure. I do know that some programs are not optimised for dual core technology so the better performance will only be seen if they have been.

Others of greater knowledge than I may help.

Ah, I recently got my Vista machine delivered (evenham. I had to go into BIOS (advanced chipset) in order to enable dual-core feature. I also had to change the multiplier setting to x10 in the BIOS.

So, go into your BIOS and make sure your CPU/multiplier settings are enabled.
