Upgrading graphics card on Dell Precision

I wanted to upgrade the graphics card on my Dell Precision T5500 simply because the old nvidia 64mb card won't even power the screen saver. I got a nvidia Quadro NVS 290 256mb card but after install, just got blank screen.I followed all the correct procedures but still no joy. I replaced the old card and all worked again. After several attempts I finally got the new card to work and all was fine until I shut down the computer and on the restart blank screen again. Would really appreciate any help or suggestions on why this is happening.

Did all the card drivers install correctly? Any warnings while installing drivers?

Did you remove the old drivers before installing the new ones? Did all the card drivers install correctly? Any warnings while installing drivers?

Yes I removed the old driver and when I eventually got the new card to work, the new driver installed with no problem. Just got blank screen at boot up

Seems to me that you have a duff card. Take it back and get it replaced.
