Hello, my Windows PC is slowing down mostly when using Google Chrome. Rebooting usually solves the problem for a little while but not for long.

When I reboot I get this message for about 20 seconds then the pc reboots. I searched using google for this app but cannot find anything.

Can anyone please help?

Thank you

I searched using google for this app but cannot find anything.

That's because it's a GUID so it's likely to be unique to your computer.

It's highly likely that the Windows Registry editor will give you clues as to what it actually is. Open Regedit -> click on "Computer" top-left -> "View" menu -> Find -> paste the above into the search box -> tick all four options -> "Find next" button. F3 on your keyboard will advance to the next search result.

Note that you mustn't delete nor make any changes in the Registry Editor - just use it to help identify the proper name of that program. When you know its name then you can either update it or uninstall it from Control Panel.

Thank you for the advice. I did what you requested and it appears that it is a problem with Microsoft Edge. I did not make any registry changes. I just did a print screen. Should I try to repair or reinstall Microsoft Edge?

Thank you again for your help.

Answer

Try - Reinstall and Re-Register Microsoft Edge for All Accounts

  1. Open an elevated Windows PowerShell.

  2. Copy and paste the command below in PowerShell, press Enter,

    Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}

  3. Close PowerShell, and try opening Microsoft Edge again. if ok then try a restart and see if you get the same message

rampman, thanks for the info and screenshot but I don't see that GUID you mentioned in your first post anywhere. It's possible therefore that Microsoft Edge is not resposible.

Anyhow, the Windows Event Viewer logs all shutdown-performance issues and it may name the culprit. Have a read here if you're not familiar with it (but ignore the advertising links on that page).
