i have an HP laptop that came with XP but with an upgrade disc for Vista. i have performed the upgrade with a "clean install" and everything works fine. question is this:-

originally the laptop came with a partition built in for the QuickPlay function to work. if i use the disks i made when i got the laptop to return it to its factory state, will it put the partition back in or is it the case that now the vista upgrade has removed the partition, i can no longer go back to XP

the Vista clean install will have formatted the original OEM system file partition, and all trace of Windows XP will be gone - your restore disks will be useless, because they rely on finding the Win XP files in the OEM partition.
