I am not sure whether my HDD is getting tired, the computer is a Medion and about five years old with a 350gb HDD and on Win 7 32bit. It had become sluggish and unresponsive at times so I used the System restore disk to try and sort it out. I have had a certain amount of success but wondered whether to treat it to a new 500gb HDD. My question is, if I do will I be able to use the system restore disc to do a clean install of Win 7?

GBL,

If your restore disk puts your PC back to how it was when new, then you should be able to do what you suggest. As a bit of insurance do not format your current drive just remove it and put in the new HDD and use your restore disk to do your clean install on the new HDD. If it should not work/go wrong you still have your original HDD and set up to revert to. If all goes well then you can format the original drive and use it for back ups etc.
