Problem with desktop message at bootup.

  dennarcher 16:20 06 Sep 2014

Recently had my PC to the repair shop for a complete re-installation of Win XP. Naturally all my programs were lost but I re-installed them OK.

Since then I get a "desktopnotepad message" each time I boot up the PC with the current date on it in a new window on my desktop which reads:

[.ShellClassinfo] LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21787

This is not a real problem - I just close it down, however it is a nuisance to have to keep doing so.

Does anyone know what this is and how to prevent it happening?

Thanks for your advice. Had not realized that I had posted this query twice, must have pressed the send button twice without knowing it.

Had a look at the info but could not find any files on my PC that fill all the criteria required. Tried Microsoft "Fix-it for me" facility but it failed to fix it(2 attempts). will now ask microsoft for advice.

Have a look at this Trickyways , might explain it better. Have a look at the comments.
