Playing DVDs on Windows Media Centre

Can anyone tell me if this is a new feature of Windows Media Player in Vista please?
If I start to play a dvd and stop it in mid film when I insert the dvd again it starts playing at the point I stopped it. If I want to see the beginnin again I have to rewind it. If I insert a new dvd it starts from the very beginning again. Should this happen?
The reason I ask was that I had problems playing dvds and PCWORLD restored the machine to its factory settings.

Well Mar i have never noticed this problem before so i tried it,and the answer is it started from the beginning as expected not midway.

Are you sure it was Windows Media Player and not Windows Media Centre ? as this does for me start from where left off once the dvd is reinserted.

Just noticed a little confusion.

You thread title says WMC but you posted WMP.

So i guess it is a feature of WMC and not in WMP

Many thanks skidzy. I checked, and if I open in WMC it begins where I left off but if I open in WMP then it plays from the beginning.
Glad to know its not a fault on my machine.
Thanks again.
