Open .php file on Vista pc?

This seemed so simple with XP, I always used something like notepad or wordpad, but with Vista it wants to default to Microsoft Office, which I'm not wanting to use as it will cost me!

Right-clicking on the file gives me the "open" option but not the "open with" choice.

Tried setting it in default programs but .php isn't listed. I'm confused!

.php extensions are listed in my options. Did you go in via default programs from the start menu then associate a file type etc?

Yes, it jumps from .pgm to .pic

There doesn't seem any way to add another file type.

How about this? click here

Thanks, tried that but only got half way there.

I added the new file type as instructed in that link, but when I go to the default page to set association, there is no mention of php.

Seems it is only set up for indexing & nothing else?

Confusing.....

skidzy - well done!

You've solved it for me. How strange that it isn't a preset or option in Vista.

Thanks, g-g
