New Budget Vista PC

  dbgray80 12:05 02 Jan 2008

I am looking at getting a budget PC for my parents to run Vista on. It may be used to play some very basic games but mostly for office, e-mail and web browsing and was wondering if the Intel E2140, E2160 and E2180 processors would be good enough to run Vista smoothly.

Also, would you go for 1gb or 2gb of ram? Would it run ok with onboard graphics or would they need to have a graphics card?

Many Thanks

The minimum system requirements are quite high for Vista click here note the need for separate graphics memory if it a premium version you intend to install.

anskyber has provided you with a link to test against.

Realisticly you need 2GB of ram,the cpu you have choose is a budget one and can get better!

Tell us your budget and we see what we can find Dave.

Is a monitor needed ?

have you thought of a laptop. For £399 this is good. click here

Takes up less space, can work in any room and coupled with a wireless router, can surf in house or gardden.

To answer you first questions...

The Intel E2140 is a great CPU! Will work with Vista no problem.

2GB of RAM is a must for Vista.

Onboard graphics won't play 3d games very well at all. But it will do perfectly for playing the games on the PC already such as pinball lol.

The PC on Arbico looks good for what you say you want. I doubt you would be dissapointed with it. Well worth the money in my opinion.
