If my machine can't run flip 3d and Aero will it still run on a basic interface?

AMD Turion ML32

Sorry I should have said, I have ran the upgrade advisor which says that I can have basic, but, I was going to buy premium and just see if it would run basic install anyway

Good grief, doesn't *anyone* think about running the upgrade advisor?

  Kate B 21:35 10 Feb 2007

Sorry, Johnnie, cross-posted. If it says you'll only manage basic, then you'll only manage basic.

Well this is where it gets all kind of confusing, I run the advisor, but when I click on the option for OS (premium) it says "your machine can run Aero 3d" and ticks are around even when I go to ultimate, so why is my recommended OS basic

Yes I find that odd. Your graphics RAM is nowhere near the requirements for Aero.

Try allocating more system ram to the graphics and run the advisor again .

Haha funny you should say that, I've just done that, and thats exactly what the thing is, if I allocate 128mb to th graphics card its Premium and if I allocate lower than that its Basic.

Now, do I buy Premium with 928mb ram??

  anskyber 22:30 10 Feb 2007

Well in theory it would leave you light on the minimum RAM fromt of 1GB, it may work but that's your call not ours.

Are you happy your graphics even with the extra allocated RAM has

"Support for DirectX 9 graphics with a WDDM driver, 128 MB of graphics memory (minimum)², Pixel Shader 2.0 and 32 bits per pixel."

  Johnnie_M 22:38 10 Feb 2007

certainly looking at the specs for my graphics card its fine

  Kate B 22:48 10 Feb 2007

In your shoes I'd go for basic. Or upgrade. I suspect Vista will crawl on those specs - it's pretty demanding.
