How to stop random BSOD on Win 7 64-bit?

Two months ago, I started experiencing random Blue Screens on my Windows 7 PC. I reinstalled Windows and my applications and everything was fine for about a month. Now the BSOD is happening again. It seems to be random. It can happen when I'm browsing the web or when the computer has been idle for hours.

It's a Hewlett-Packard H8-1270ea running Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit) with Service Pack 1.

I tried running WhoCrashed and bluescreenview but neither application could find any dump files. Unable to do a useful sysem restore as this PC keeps deleting restore points even though the max usage is set to 20% (200 GB).

Any advice gratefully received!

Looks to me that sys restore is making your PC blue screen. 20% as it is set is making your system do nothing more than set restore points at an unreasonable rate during use. Check task manager on your CPU usage.

Thanks for the quick response rdave13. Unfortunately I don't think System Restore is causing the problems. It's usually set at about 5%. CPU usage looks fine, currently 85% for System Idle Process but the PC has crashed twice in the last 12 hours.
