Host and port question Zeta telnet

I have Windows 8 and I downloaded Zeta Telnet 3.01, but I got stuck by an empty all-black screen on top of which are the questions for a host and a port. What do I put there? Thanks in anticipation (TIA).

What are you trying to access?

I'm trying to get on that all-black screen a question to which I shall reply "set logfile [name os file on my computer]" on which I later can see the record of the whole session. Thanks for your help in anticipation.

OK, but you need something to connect to like a PC or a network device or there won't be a log to record. You need the IP address of the remote device and the telnet port it's using, default is 23.

In addition I'd recommend Teraterm, which doesn't come with an opt-out adware installer like Zeta telnet does. In Teraterm, select File menu/Log to create a log file.

You can record a telnet session with your ISP's mail server if there's nothing else available.
