I have a dell volstro and have recently done a factory reset on it, but its still running slow. Any ideas of what i can do to speed it up. TIA

Ok Intel Celeron P4600 or Intel Core i3-370M? i3 will be faster. 4G RAM and 500G HDD.

Assuming HDD isn't nearly full after the factory reset

the only way to speed it up would be add more RAM or swap the HDD for a SSD.

Slow in comparison to what?

nikki, if your laptop was once fast then it should be the same after a factory restore. Perhaps a memory module has come loose or failed so head over to Control Panel -> System. What does it show next to "Installed memory (RAM)"?

have a look in device manager to see if there are any yellow exclamation marks.

I've got some more good ideas but I won't be bothering for now as I've a feeling the OP has already abandoned this thread ;)
