Files "not available" from networked xp

I've a new win7pro PC (1st time not using xp) and I have it networked into my old XP (a few problems as also trying to link to daughters Win7 laptop). Finally achieved mapping the xp data partition so I can see my xp files and folders, BUT: Some (not all) are marked with a cross and are not avaiable. e.g. in My Pictures, 5 out of 15 folders are not available, 2 jpgs are fine but the other 20 in the root folder are not available. Even when a folder is available, not all of the contents will be. My Pictures is an examples, same results apply across the xp drive.

I can't see any common theme why some are available and others not. Same file type, permissions etc - photos is a good example as the problem applies to photos all loaded together.

Any thoughts? Simon

You can easily recover all lost folder or files through data recovery software.
