Download and open files without prompt

  Yaron 01:20 24 Feb 2014

I've set Firefox to open various file types (txt, png, pdf) with their default application; the "Do this automatically for files like this" option is checked. For some reason, FF keeps asking whether to save or open the file.

In IE8, the "Always ask before opening this type of file" check-box is missing.

(Win 7, 32-bit).

I'd appreciate your help.

In general this would be regarded as a risky move, particularly .pdf files which are known to be one of the ways of hiding Cryptlocker among other nasty's.

It is neither IE nor FF that actually opens the Files but "Whatever" name Windows currently calls its Interface

Thank you.

The problem is with any file type.
