Hi all,

Have a new laptop running vista premium and have received a word doc that i can't open! It says i need to create a file association to open the file, where can i do this? Also i don't actually have word installed but do have microsoft works, should this be OK top open a word doc? I used to be able to open word docs on my Xp desktop, again i didn't have word installed.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Download the latest Word viewer here click here

Also, if you don’t have them there are links to the Powerpoint and Excel viewers at the bottom of this page.

Go to Control Panel > Default Programs > Associate File Type and scroll down to the extension you want and select the program you want to use.

click here Download OpenOffice - that will open and allow you to work with MS Office files. You need to change the default file save types from Tools>Options - General using the bottom two drop down boxes.

OK but follow my link and install OpenOffice so you can alter and change the MS Office files too!
