CPU Upgrade

If I upgrade my cpu, will my Vista copy be invalid? As i understand things, Vista locks itself to the mobo, my Vista copy is oem, as i self build all my pc's. Have not upgraded anything else since Vista unstall, anyone confirm this?

If you are just upgrading the CPU and not the Motherboard you should be fine. If you are doing a CPU/Motherboard upgrade you are in effect creating a new computer and your OEM copy is no longer valid. You might be able to get away with the telephone activation stating that the motherboard died (similar to how things were in XP) and you could no longer get the same mobo.

Thanks for that, I thought it was ok, as long as I leave mobo. Off for a dual core fx to match my other desktop later!
