connecting vid camera to laptop

When I attach my panasonic video camera to my laptop with vista, it makes a noise, but no box or anything comes up. When on movie maker, I try to import video from the camera, it doesn't detect the device. This is odd, as the camera works fine on my pc. The camera isn't found in scanners and cameras on control panel either, but on device manager (view hardware and devices) the cmaera is listed in imaging devices as 'web-camera'. I haven't a clue what's going on.

Did you install any software or drivers on your PC but not on your laptop?

I don't think the camera came with an installation cd or anything like that, so no.

You may be able to download a driver from the camera manufacturers website.
