blank screen

I've had my new toshiba laptop for a month now. In that time I've twice had a blank screen. It first occurred while I was on the net then the next time it occurred when accessing the net. It literally is a black screen. I turn off the pc using the manual start button which I then restart with the option of how I want to start up. I start in normal mode and then it's all ok again. I wasn't running any other programmes at the time. I'm using vista home premium. Any ideas why this happens.

Laptops (and PCs) usually have a keyboard command to turn off the screen, is it possible you have inadvertently pressed the key or did this happen when you were not inputting?

thank you for your reply. It is possible i may have hit the key to turn off the screen as i was connecting to the net using hotkeys. I'll keep an eye on things and check exactly what i was doing if it happens again.
