Aways ask before opening this type of file

The 'Aways ask before opening this type of file' checkbox isn't available on my Windows 7 Professional m/c. I'm running IE8. I don't remember ever unchecking this and I've read on the web that Windows 7 removed this. However, a friend of mine tells me that she has the same m/c setup and she did get the 'Always ask ....' checkbox.

Can you clarify this please?

Here's how to do it Re-enable Always Ask Before Opening this Type of File scroll down for the W7 way (has screenshots)

"In Windows 7 and Vista, there is no longer an option to reset or change this behavior using the usual graphical interface. You have to use edit the registry to change the option."

Thanks for your very prompt response. I am putting together a fact sheet for a client and one of the questions they ask is, is the 'Always ask .....' checkbox always there by default in Windows 7, on a clean install for example, and is only removed if the user unchecks the checkbox control?
