Anytime Upgrade Available in UK

I have a discounted upgrade to Vista Home Basic on order as part of the express upgrade program.

Once it's installed I was planning on upgrading this to Home Premium using Anytime Upgrade but i've read in a few places that this isn't available in the UK.

Is anyone able to confirm if Anytime Upgrade is available here or not? If not, is it likely to be made available at some time?

If the answer to both is no then i'll cancel the order and go out an buy a copy of Home Premium.

Thanks for any help.

Simon

I was hoping someone would have answered this as I would also like to know the answer.

supplied by Microsoft, the Anytime Upgrade service would be available to European customers from the 30th January - the Vista launch date.

I haven't spoken to anyone who has tried to use the service yet.

Out of interest I tried it on my version of Vista and it doesn't appear to be available in the UK yet.

It is, one of the purchasing options is PC World.
Very pricey though.

Thanks for the replies.

1832bchs - when you say pricey do you know how much a basic to premium upgrade is? I've paid a discounted price of £30 for the basic edition (incl. P&P) - if the upgrade to premium is anymore than about £100 I might as well buy a retail copy of the Premium Upgrade.

I haven't been able to find anything online about UK Anytime Upgrades.

Thanks again.

Upgrade from Basic to Premium is £79.99.
Cheaper to buy an OEM copy.

OEM does not work with upgrade. The whole point of OEM is to install it on a new pc as the operating system. You stand corrected 1832bchs!

Thanks for all the replies,

Not received my copy of Vista yet but it looks like Anytime Upgrade will work on an OEM copy.

If the upgrade files aren't included on the disk then a separate Anytime Upgrade disc is available for £2.48 to cover P&P.

Upgrade from Vista Basic to Premium is £63.07 from MS.

Thanks again.

It can be found in Vista under Control Panel, System and Maintenance, Windows Anytime Upgrade.

Download and upgrade can be performed from there.
