Can I run Aoe on windows 7 and how?

Possibly get better replies on the games forum? They certainly seem to be the experts in this field.

"I've got Age of Empire 2 working on windows 7 without any graphics problems by running the game compatibility for Windows Xp Service pack 3, Disabling visual themes, disabling desktop composition, running as administrator and adding -w to the end of the shortcut target hope this helps."

There is a backdoor registry method for getting all the AOE games to run without issue as far as the colour issue is concerned in Win7.

AOE 1 & 2 can suffer from the colours issue where sea is purple and grass is yellow. AOE 3 seems to automatically turn off Aero and run fine.

I'm using Win7 32bit....
