Flintstone’s 50th Anniversary on Google Doodle Today (30th Sept.

Yes the Hanna-Barbera show is 50 today.

Did not enjoy the real life movie's but still watch the old cartoons with our son.

Disney is always cited as the cartoon master but just think who they gave us :-

Huckleberry Hound, Scooby-Doo, The Jetsons, Wacky Races, Hong Kong Phooey, Yogi Bear & Tom & Jerry to name but a few.

Happy Birthday Fred

Tom and Jerry and Jungle Book used to be the most sought after films on RN warships. The cry "good old Fred" used to go up with Tom and Jerry films. This was for Fred Quimby the producer of Tom and Jerry. Things started to go down hill when he retired but this also coincided with TV being more widely available.

I preferred Looney Toons when the kids were small.

. . . . Wacky Races, Catch the Pigeon, The Jetsons and Top Cat to name another few.

I have a "Best of Hannah Barbera" Tunes from the Toons CD, and when I tell my mates I invariably get a snigger, but it makes interesting listening as it has main titles, end titles and incidental music.

Absolutely no mention of Tom & Jerry though - an interesting omission.
